Sligo’s U-20 side, which is coached by Roy Cooper and Jamie Livingstone, had their first outing in the Connacht League, when they played Buccaneers in Hamilton Park on Saturday last. Despite fielding a side containing some newcomers to the game, the home side matched their AIL rivals in the opening half, after which the score was 10-5 in favour of Buccaneers.
However, the midlanders dominated after the interval, and were convincing winners in the end. Sligo’s most impressive players were Thomas Darcel, Ralph Lucey and Richard Henry. On Saturday next, Sligo travel to Galway to play UCG. Players will meet at Hamilton Park at 11 am.
