Sligo Face Corinthians In Opening League Tie

On Sunday next Sligo play Corinthians in Hamilton Park [Kick-Off 3 pm] in the opening round of the Connacht Junior 1 League. This will to be a tricky assignment for Sligo, as the Galway side is certain to provide formidable opposition. Sligo won the corresponding game in Galway last season, but Corinthians gained revenge in the cup, when they scored a clearcut victory.

Sligo have prepared well under Bernie Kelly, Joe Walsh and Brendan Leahy, and with large turnouts for training, competition for places is certain to be keen. There are major injury concerns about former Georgian International, Kakaber Machitidze, who has a recurring knee injury, wing forward, Joe Sweeney [ankle], and winger Philip Henry [thumb]. Victory on Sunday would be a major confidence booster, and would pave the way for a successful league run.

A big turn out of supporters would be a great morale booster for the squad.
