As you are probably aware Paul Newton (43) suffered head injuries as a result of an unprovoked attack in the early hours of Saturday April 12th while on a weekend break in Belfast to attend the Connacht versus Ulster Magners League rugby match.
To assist Paul and his family over this traumatic period, friends of Paul have initiated some fundraising ventures. The fundraising efforts are culminating in a draw and auction which is being held in The Glasshouse Hotel, Sligo on Friday 27th June 2008 at 9:30PM.
There are some tickets still available for the fundraising draw and we would encourage people to come along on the night for the auction where some fantastic pieces of art and sporting memorabilia will be going under the hammer. Some of the items to be auctioned are as follows; signed Sligo Jersey (Connacht Champions 2007 Squad), signed Kerry Jersey (All Ireland Champions 2007 Squad), signed Kilkenny(All Ireland Hurling Championship 2007 Squad) , a signed Celtic and Man Utd Jersey as well as a Munster Jersey signed by the Heineken Cup winning squad and a signed Irish rugby jersey. There are also a wide range of other unique sporting items to be auctioned on the night. For a full list of auction items check out http://stmarys.sligo.gaa.ie/
There will also be a wide collection of art pieces from local artists including; Vera Gaffney, Brenda McArdle, Vivien Murray, Michael Wann, Leonora Neary, Annie West, Bettina Seitz, Briget Beemster, Miriam Leydon, Gail Kelly, Fiona Fleming, Poilin McGowan, Annie Harisson, Hilary Nunan and Suzanne Woods.
We really appreciate the assistance and goodwill we have received right throughout the country for this fundraising and would like to invite everyone along to the night in the Glasshouse.
