Last Saturday marked the close of rugby for this season for the Juvenile Section of the club. Following training on Saturday morning last, players, coaches and parents retired to the hall in Sligo I.T. for a well deserved celebratory refreshments.
Because of the state of the pitches in Hamilton Park, the entire Juvenile section moved to Sligo I.T. this season for both coaching and matches. Under the watchful eyes of their 17 coaches, the players made great progress in their pristine surroundings. The club is indebted to Gerry Dalton and the authorities in Sligo I.T. for making their absolutely superb facilities available to the juveniles.
On Saturday, certificates were presented to all players who participated at the coaching, while Denise Burns was the recipient of a special presentation, for her outstanding performances all seaon against the boys. At the presentations, the club President, Tom Gilligan, paid tribute toÂ the coaches ofÂ the various teams from U-7 to U-12, and commended the triumvirate who head up the section, John Pender, Ronnie Oâ€™Hara and David Murray for their outstanding work all season. He said the juvenile section would compare very favourably with the mini section of any club in the country.
Record numbers enrolled in juvenile rugby this season, and all had a most enjoyable experience.
