J1A – Ballinasloe v Sligo

Ballinasloe 10 – Sligo 2nd XV 27

On a sunny Saturday, with little or no  breeze, the Sligo men’s development squad made their first trip to Ballinasloe and clocked up a comprehensive first win of the season in the Connacht J1A league.
Captain Matt Davey led by example, touching down for one of the four tries, ensuring the bonus point for the away team.  Sligo stalwart Jamie Bowes saw a return to action and his ball-carrying in the second half gave the younger members in the pack great direction,  letting his actions do the talking as always.
As the Sligo forwards dominated in the scrum, Niall Gray then directed play at out-half,  leading to a further three tries by Ross O’ Boyle, Enda Gavin and man of the match David Cawley.
The Sligo coaches were happy with such a dominant performance and the bonus point win.
The team have a week off from fixtures next week but will be back in action at 2.30pm on 19th November when they take on Galwegians at home.
