Sligo’s 1st XV have a free week-end as the Connacht Junior 1 league reaches its concluding stages. However, Sligo will have more than a casual interest in the games being played elsewhere on Sunday as relegation and qualification for next season’s AIB All-Ireland Cup have yet to be decided. Sligo’s victory over Westport has virtually guaranteed they have escaped the relegation trap door, while five points from their remaining two games, both away, to Monivea and Tuam would almost guarantee qualification for next season’s AIB Cup.
Meanwhile, the 2nd team are on the road again as they travel to Dubarry Park to play Buccaneers. Michael Storey and his management colleagues are optimistic that they will put a strong side on the field. The team bus will depart Sligo Garda Station at 12 noon.
