The Coney Island Challenge is a race with a difference, over land and sea. Do the 10mile run or 10km run/walk across a sand causeway to Coney Island. Starting & finishing at Sligo Rugby Club, with hot showers, refreshments, entertainment and prize-giving after the last runner has finished. All funds raised go to the Sligo Rugby Club Development Fund & a donation is also made to the founders & original organisers of the race, St Anne’s Church

1st & 2nd in the Over 50 category . (no U18s allowed in the 10mile race)
10 Km Run – €20 entry fee

10 Km Walk – €15 entry fee
1st & 2nd male & female
5km Family Fun Run/Walk.
Entry fee is €20 per family
This is a new event to encourage younger members to join in.
The route is not suitable for buggies, as the terrain is rough along the shoreline.

Important Notes:

By registering for the race you agree to abide by the highway code and act in cooperation with the organisers and marshals to ensure your safety on the day. It is recommended that any potential participant not currently involved in physical sporting activity, should have undertaken a medical examination before taking part in the event.

I understand that participating in this event is physically demanding, and that I should not enter and participate unless I am medically able and properly trained. In consideration of the acceptance of this entry, I assume full and complete responsibility for any injury or accident which may occur while I am travelling to or from the event, during the event, or while I am on the premises used before, during or after in connection with the event.

You will be running in damp and wet conditions—your running shoes may be damaged permanently. 

ONLY RUNNERS will be allowed access to the Island and cut of time for leaving the Island is 12.30pm! anyone still on the island at 12.30pm will be given a lift in the broom wagon.
