Audio Visual Table QuizSligo RFC in association with The Warriors Festival Committee are glad announce a joint initiative fundraising event to be held in the Club on Friday April 29th.

The event proceeds are to go towards the development of new facilities at the Club and the Warriors Community Festival.

This is a table quiz with a real difference, the difference being the 2015 ‘Balls.ie Man of the Year’, the legend that is Mickey Murray.

The event promises to be a great nights entertainment. It coincides with the end of the season for our Juvenile Section, so no early morning training on Sat 30th! Table numbers will be limited so please make sure to book your table of 4 with Lorraine Kerins by email at sligorugby@gmail.com.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Sligo Tag Rugby – Starting May 19th

IRFUTAG-eFlyer_SLIGORFCSligo RFC Tag Rugby kicks off on Thurs May 19th, 2016. The Club is delighted to welcome back the summer Tag season and teams are invited to register now at www.irfutag.ie. There is a busy schedule of games and social events planned for the months of May, June and July.

Due to the development of the playing facilities at the Club the number of Tag pitches is restricted and as a result the number of Tag teams is restricted. Registration is open at www.irfutag.ie  so please make sure to register your team now to avoid disappointment as space is limited. The quota of teams is expected to sell out fast. Because of the reduced number of teams and in order to ensure that all teams fulfil all of their fixtures throughout the full period of Tag, teams must have a minimum of 12 players per squad.

There is a dedicated team of volunteers who are running Tag, planning the games and the social events. The team of volunteers is always seeking help from new people who would like to help out with organising events, promoting events, refereeing, bar staff or assisting on the nights of tag. The Club is most grateful to the team of volunteers, this year led by Club stalwart Justin Harte (086 8162265). Please contact Justin if you would like to be part of this great team.

Sligo RFC is also most grateful to Club primary sponsor The Garavogue Bar who are this year playing an active role in the promotion of the Club run events and also entertaining Taggers at The Garavogue on dedicated nights over the course of the summer.

We wish all players and teams participating in Tag a great summer of fun and entertainment!

New volunteering opportunity with Foróige

Foroige

Foróige National Youth Development Organisation is currently recruiting volunteers to take part in The Big Brother Big Sister Youth Mentoring Programme in Sligo and Leitrim. This programme, funded by The Dormant Accounts Fund is working specifically with young people with autism.

The programme matches a trained adult volunteer with a young person with autism who would benefit from having a mentor in their lives.

The volunteer will be facilitated to establish a supportive relationship with the young person, aimed at assisting them in their development. We need male and female volunteers. There is a commitment of a weekly meeting with the young person for about an hour or two over the course of one year.

Big Brothers Big Sisters nationally and internationally is proven through research to improve young people’s wellbeing, improve their social support and relationships with others.

If you would like to hear more about this volunteering opportunity contact Elaine on 086 0497089 or by email Elaine.granaghan@foroige.ie

Sligo RFC supporting ‘Darkness into Light’ Sat May 7th

Darkness into Light

Calling all Players, Members and Friends of Sligo Rugby

This Year’s Annual Darkness Into Light 5k run/walk in aid of Pieta House takes place on Saturday 7th May at 4.15 am at Sligo IT

Darkness Into Light is the flagship fundraising and awareness event for Pieta House, and without the support from this annual event, they could not have helped so many people in suicidal distress and engaging in self-harm over the last nine years.

Pieta House has nearly 180 staff and has welcomed in excess of 22,000 people struggling in the shadows into their nine centres up and down the country since first opening their doors a decade ago.

Let’s, Sligo RFC, prove how good a club we are, by coming together and showing  solidarity to this worthy cause, by joining in with the tens of thousand’s (almost 110,000 last year) of others partaking all over the world.

For more Information and to register for the event follow the link below.
