On Sunday next [kick-off 2.30 pm], Sligo play Castlebar in Round 3 of the Connacht Junior 1 League. This will certainly be a searching test for Sligo, as the Co. Mayo team showed in last week’s victory over Ballina that they are a strong side. Castlebar lost in the opening round away to Buccaneers, while Sligo came away pointless from Galwegians last Sunday. Both sides will be aware that in an 11 team league another defeat would jeopardise their title prospects, so Sunday’s points are absolutely crucial.
Sligo will again have to do without the injured, Julian Rippon, but will welcome back hooker, Gary Conneally, who was unavailable last week-end. They will be hopeful that former Georgian International, Kakaber Machitidze will be recovered from injury, and available for selection. Games between Sligo and Castlebar are invariably very keenly contested, but Sligo will be hoping for four precious points, and will have to perform to their full potential if they are to emerge victorious. As many supporters as possible are urged to lend their support.
