I`m only an armchair supporter of SRC and understand that it may be considered that I have no right to apply for away or any tickets for the 2012 games.

However, whenever I could get tickets for international games at home and away,I have attended many times over the last 40 yrs.

We have two sons who have had to go to London to earn their living, so if there is any way that we could get four tickets, one for myself,one for my wife Geraldine and one each for my sons Ben and James, for the England game, I would be delighted.
Should it be neccessary for me to become a paid up member of SRC, I would be more than willing.

I have been a paid up member of the IRFU supporters club for two years but was unable to get tickets for any games from them !

Im a wrestling coach and I was looking for a different fundraiser for this year. Just curious if the fundraiser was worth the time. What did you do planning for the day?

My wife & I met George, together with his daughter Wendy, when we shared a coach trip in Crete celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Battle of Crete. He was a tremendous raconteur especially when trying to converse with several of the old Partisans (Andartes), when he managed to teach Andonis Patrakis (Anthony Quinn’s dance teacher on Zorba the Greek!) how to say ‘Bottoms Up’. This cry was heard several times during that tour! George did like his Whisky! We’ve been back to Crete several times and, most recently,to join in the celebrations of the 70th Anniversary in May and to attend our son’s wedding in July – we love it there! Before we left my wife tried to contact George to no avail until today we received a letter from his daughter Wendy informing us that very sadly George passed away on 18th July. A true gentleman and hero who we must never forget. My wife’s Uncle is buried in Souda Bay Cemetery so we are well aware of the sacrifices those young lads made for us. Bottoms Up George!!

I have had the pleasure of meeting him on many occassions in recent years, when visiting Jill and Brians house in Cashel. What an interesting gentleman.He talked so knowledgeably about the game of rugby internationally, but always finished up talking of his love for Sligo R.F.C.Being a past president of Corinthians R.F.C.we replayed many an encounter between these two.His father, of course captained the Irish Rugby Team over 100 years ago, and was referred to by the English as one of the most fearsome forwards they ever played against.There is some few upthere about to get an earful,especially if he has been seen by George to have done any injustice to Sligo rugby! Rest in Peace,George.

George was an inspirational Rugby Man. He was always anxious that the Sligo Rugby people would maintain the highest standards of dignity and sportsmanship. He will be a huge loss to us and will be sadly missed by all. May he rest in peace.
