Sligo RFC Sponsorship Launch

There was a packed Clubhouse for the post match reception, when Sligo’s sponsorship for this season was launched by the club President, Tom Gilligan on Sunday last. Among the attendance were several former club Presidents, Life Members and Friends of Sligo Rugby. Also present was Dr. Jimmy Devins T.D. and Ms. Marian Harkin M.E.P.,T.D. Our President extended a special welcome to George Hamlet [President 1969-72], who was recently hospitalised.

The club’s Main Sponsor is Martin Reilly Motors, Carraroe. There are five First Tier Sponsors, Infacta, Mespil Hotel Dublin 4, O’Hehir’s Bakery, Anglo Irish Bank, and Kevinsfort Ltd. The following are the club’s Second Tier sponsors, Bree’s Bar Strandhill, John Perry T.D., Sherry Fitzgerald Draper, Sligo Park Hotel, McHugh’s Bar Grattan St. and EJ’s Menswear Grattan Street. Sligo RFC is supported by Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership.

In his address at the launch, the President thanked all sponsors and expressed the wish that the sponsorship would be benificial to all involved.

At a post match reception in the Clubhouse on Sunday next [5p.m.] Sligo’s sponsorship for the 2006-7 season will be launched by the President, Tom Gilligan. All Life Members, Members, Sponsors, Advertisers, and Friends of Sligo Rugby are cordially invited to attend.

Pre-Match Reception and Sponsorship Launch

The sponsorship sub-committee have been busy over the past few weeks finalising sponsorship arrangements for this season.

At a special pre-match function in the Clubhouse prior to the Sligo v. Monivea game on October 22nd, the complete list of sponsors will be unveiled. The sub-committee are now finalising arrangements with some sponsors, and this work will be completed by the week-end.

They have agreed that the main sponsor of Sligo RFC for the next three years, i.e. until the end of the 2008-’09 season will be Martin Reilly Motors. The President and entire memberhship are extremely grateful to Martin who has been a staunch supporter of the club and a keen follower of rugby over many years, and look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship.

The President and membership are also indebted to Gerry Healy, Kevinsfort Ltd. for very generously providing a house for the remainder of the season for our oversees and rugby scholarship players.

All other club sponsors will be announced at the launch on Sunday October 22nd at 1.30p.m.

Generous gesture

Since Sligo RFC moved to Strandhill they have always enjoyed the hospitality and generosity provided by the proprietors of Bree’s Bar, Sonny (R.I.P.) and Bridie Bree. This tradition has been maintained by the present owners, Geraldine and Johnny Kivlehan. The President and Committee wish to thank them for the use of their premises for various meetings and are particularly grateful to Geraldine for the refreshments provided on training nights.
