Objectives of Sligo Rugby Club

The objectives of Sligo Rugby Club are:

  1. To develop and encourage the sport of rugby in the Greater Sligo / North West area by being socially inclusive and by increasing club membership to a minimum of 300 paid members and increasing playing members at senior level to 50.
  2. To ensure that adequate facilities are in place to facilitate the playing of Rugby in Sligo by the development of new purpose-built grounds and Club facilities by September 2008.
  3. To ensure that the standard of the game of Rugby at all levels within the Club continues to improve, by developing a senior team of All-Ireland League standard, a second senior team, a ladies team and under-age teams at all levels as outlined in the I.R.F.U. Clubs of Ireland Guidelines.
  4. To make the necessary arrangements for all teams within the Club to compete under the rules/regulations as laid down by the Connacht Branch and I.R.F.U., and to ensure that the traditions and ethos of the game of rugby are honoured and upheld by all club members.
  5. To publicise the game of Rugby as much as possible through the local and national media.
  6. To ensure that Sligo Rugby Club shall make a wholesome contribution to Rugby within the Province of Connacht, by producing playing members of Inter-Provincial and International standard at all levels and developing indigenous coaches and referees.
  7. To provide an administrative and financial structure within the club, capable of realising these objectives.
