Sligo RFC 24 :: Westport RFC 0
Sligo under 13s opened their Connacht Cup campaign with an impressive 24-0 win against Westport on Saturday. The Sligo team took an early lead with a bustling run up the middle from débutante Haddie Moussa to score under the post. Darragh Cummins converted to make a seven point lead. The Sligo forward pack were more physical at the breakdown and showed their strength when rucking and mauling to provide the backline with quick clean ball. Sligo made it 12-0 ten minutes later after Haddie Maussa broke away from the forwards and showed great pace to score his second try untouched. He then went on to score his third try to make it a hattrick in his first game of rugby.
The Sligo backline worked hard on defence and attacked well to provide Darragh Cummins with the ball to burst through a couple of tackles then show his speed up the sideline and score a brilliant try. Darragh was also great on defence with some hard hits and a great try saving tackle The game was played at pace and Sligo impressed, looking good moving into the second round.
