Show Racism the Red Card and the FAI Intercultural Programme are jointly hosting a training day to support delivery of the Show Racism the Red Card Education Pack. The Education Pack is directly applicable to the CSPE curriculum and can be used in other subjects such as history, geography, religion at second level and SPHE at primary level.

Venue: Mercy College Sligo
Time: 11am-4pm
This training session is geared to support a learning process not just in the classroom, but on the pitch also. Activities in the Education pack include amended activities from the Kickstart 1 coaching course. In these physical activities, there are learning based outcomes.
The pack is structured to support an active learning process through discussion of themes such as
- What is racism?
- Action against Racism (school)
- Action against Racism (sport)
- Racism and its consequences
- Do’s and Don’ts when responding to Racism
- Living in an integrated Ireland
The training day will consist of supporting capacity around developing increased understanding about
- Exploring prejudice
- Defining racism
- Policy context
- Cultural context
- Defining integration
- Responding to racism
- Teachable moments in Coaching activities; Delivering Kickstart Coaching Activities- relevant to the Show Racism the Red Card pack.
Who is this training relevant to?
FAI Development officers working to achieve the aims of the FAI Intercultural Programme. Sports Development Officers working with schools and youth services and aiming to deliver intercultural initiatives.
Facilitators including Gardai, Youth workers and others prepared to deliver this programme in partnership with SRTRC/ FAI in companies, community or youth work settings.
Teachers who wish to deliver the Show Racism the Red Card Education pack as a full module as part of the CSPE curriculum
Teachers of other subjects related to the pack; history, geography, religion, PE, SPHE.
