Calling all Senior and U19 Players!

All senior players and U19 players are invited to a meeting with the coaches and managers for next season. The meeting will take place in the club next Monday 29th June at 8pm.

This will be an opportunity for players to be introduced to the new coaches and managers and to discuss plans for the coming season. With pre season training due to start in July the coaches will lay out their timetables and general plans for the season. All players from U19 to senior (1sts and 2nds) are welcome and especially any new players.

6 Nations and Triple Crown Trophies to visit Sligo RFC

Interested Juvenile and Youth members, friends and parents are requested to attend at the clubhouse at Hamilton Park, Strandhill between the hours of 6:30pm and 8:30pm this evening (Thursday June 18th).

The Trophies will be available to all other members, TAG players and friends of rugby in Sligo from 8:30pm onwards.

Show Racism the Red Card!

Show Racism the Red Card and the FAI Intercultural Programme are jointly hosting a training day to support delivery of the Show Racism the Red Card Education Pack. The Education Pack is directly applicable to the CSPE curriculum and can be used in other subjects such as history, geography, religion at second level and SPHE at primary level.

Junior 1 Fixtures for 2009/10

Sligo will start their 2009/10 Junior League campaign on 20/09/09 at home against Galwegians. Sligo will then have Buccaneers, Westport and Corinthians all away before Christmas and we have Ballina at home on 13/12/09 before the Christmas break. With three games in the new year against Monivea away on 10/01/10, Tuam at home on 31/01/10 and the last league game away to Castlebar on 21/02/10, the 2009/10 Junior league campaign is sure to be an exciting one.

Moss Keane Golf Challenge

We were all very upset to hear earlier this year that the great indestructible Kerry man, Moss Keane, had been hit with cancer; but of course in his inimitable style, he is fighting and remains immensely cheerful and in great form.

Killester Travel are holding a golf day to celebrate Moss’s career and also to raise some much needed money for the IRFU Charitable Trust and Stuart Mangan Appeal – both charities looking after seriously injured players. We know it is a tough year and because of that we have tailored the competition in a particular way.

Charity Table Quiz A Huge Success

The President of Sligo RFC, Brendan Leahy, and the Chairman of the organising Sub-Committee, Tom Gilligan, on behalf of the Sub-Committee, wish to thank those who supported the table quiz in aid of the Stuart Mangan Trust, held on Tuesday evening last in the Glasshouse Hotel. They also wish to thank all who made financial contributions, and are extremely grateful to the business community for very generously donating prizes for the raffle held on that evening.
