All had a wonderful weekend and feel very privileged to have witnessed Ireland’s Grand Slam success.

23 Sligo RFC U11′s traveled to Naas on Saturday 8th March to play in the annual tournament and with 12 teams from around the country also playing came home with their first silverware of the season.
Just missing out by the narrowest of margins on progressing to the last 4 of the competition the team won 2 matches and drew 1 in the plate competition playing some of their best rugby on the day scoring 4 tries against the home team, Naas, with an exhibition of good running rugby.
With no difference in the match results and tries scored between Sligo RFC and UL Bohemians of Limerick it was decided to share the spoils on the day.
The team played 5 matches in all only loosing 1. This was a great result and a good day out.

The second entertainment night of tag is planned for June 11th. We have decided to have a Table Quiz and Pizza Night for this evening.
The last entertainment night of tag is the final night on July 16th. For this night we are having a Bring Your Own Barbeque (BYO BBQ). You can bring your own BBQ set and cook your own food if you like. We are also thinking about setting up a camp area for people that want to camp on the grounds (the camping is to be confirmed). We will be having Fancy Dress on this night as well as an Award Ceremony.
On the other nights of tag we will be asking teams, if they wish, to bring their own music with them. They can bring a CD with the music they like and we will play it in the clubhouse. We are also planning on having a pizza delivery service to the clubhouse so people can order food if they wish. People can also vote for the Award Ceremony which takes place on the final night.

Sligo 17 Corinthians 12
Sligo’s U13 squad advanced to the final of the Connacht U13 cup with a dramatic win over Galway Corinthians at Hamilton park on Saturday. The home side outscored the visitors by three tries to two in a thrilling game which could have been won by either team.
Corinthians won the toss and elected to kick off. Sligo’s prop forward Andrew Kerr, who’s tackling was a feature throughout, signaled his side’s intent with a super catch from the kick and immediately drove into the blues defence. Quick thinking scrum half Ronan Redmond moved the ball speedily away from the ensuing ruck to allow strong running centre Dylan Corcoran gain a foothold in the visitors 22. However, Corinthians had other ideas and their strong pack turned over possession to release their pacy backline who pushed the home team back into their own half. It was then Sligo’s turn to defend, and some super tackling particularly from wingers Diarmuid Mulligan and Conor Greene ensured the Sligo line remained intact.
