U15s kick-start league with victory against Creggs

Training alongside the U16 Squad has proved to be immensely beneficial for
the Sligo RFC U15s as they kicked off the start of the Connacht U15 league
with a crushing 29-6 victory against local rivals, Creggs RFC.  The away
fixture saw team captain Duncan McDonagh (a former Creggs player himself)
lead the team through the opposing side’s defence with ease and the Sligo
side dominated the match from start to finish.

With a couple of early season non-league victories under their belts, the
Sligo side came out fighting and played a supremely confident first half,
with three tries scored ahead of the whistle.  The second half followed with
more of the same, with all members of the U15 squad playing an integral part
in the match, utilising the skills and drills practised so rigorously in
training.

The Sligo pack yet again showed their strength and determination, picking
and driving, pushing their Creggs counterparts back time and again.  The
backs showed a fluency seldom seen in youth rugby, playing with verve and
imagination, and racking up 5 tries in the process.

The U15 side scarcely allowed their opponents out of their own half
throughout the entire match in a game of high-octane rugby that opened the
season in style for Sligo.  The team, who have been the reigning Connacht
champions for two years running, showed that they have every intention of
holding on to their title for a third consecutive year.
