In a week when it was announced that the All Blacks would play in Croke Park in 2008, it is appropriate that another famous side in black will grace the historic stadium on Saturday next. Many club members are making the trip to the capital for the game, and they will do so with a lot of pride and more than a little optimism. They will be especially willing former club star, Charles Harrison to victory, as well as squad member, Conor McGowan, who trained last season in the club. Charles played a lot of underage rugby for our club, and was capped at full-back for Connacht Youths. Indeed he was regarded as most unfortunate not to have been capped for the Ireland Youths. He also played for a season with the 1st XV before attending University in St.Mary’s College, Strawberry Hill, Twickenham. The club President, on behalf of the membership, extends best wishes to the entire squad, their management of Tommy Breheny and his assistant, John Kent, and Chairman, John Murphy, and his fellow administrators.
